In 2023, we visited the majestic town of Crested Butte while visiting my son in Gunnison, Colorado. Known for its freshly powdered slopes and picturesque mountain views, this is a popular skiing destination. In its downtown area, vintage homes, coffee shops, and restaurants serve dishes blending ingredients from different cultures.
We decided to go snowshoeing on this weekend trip. Snowshoeing is one of our favorite winter activities since we don’t ski or snowboard. We rented snowshoes and poles from a local shop in Gunnison and headed to Crested Butte. Although it was a cold day, the warm sun kept us comfortable.
It snowed a lot that season. Several feet of snow surrounded most residences and parking lots. As we hiked through the snow, we noticed street signs peeking through.
Taking the trail back and forth took us three miles. Our walk was truly memorable because of the beautiful landscapes in the winter. Our evening ended with a delicious dinner in town. Snowshoeing is a fun and accessible way to enjoy the winter season outside. No matter what your age or fitness level is, you should be able to do it. This is a fun activity that offers a chance to experience winter landscapes.
