I have very small, almost Asian-looking eyes. My eyelashes are also short and sparse. I’ve tried many mascaras from drugstore brands to high-end. After several years of searching for the perfect mascara, I believe I’ve found three that works for small, hooded eyes. Unfortunately, two are high-end but worth every penny.
1. Urban Decay Perversion mascara. This mascara retails for $22.00 and can be purchased at Sephora or the Urban Decay website. This creamy formula adds volume and length to your lashes without clumping. It separates your lashes making your eyes appear larger. Although they claim it contains proteins and amino acids known to stimulate lash growth, I’ve not seen a difference in my eyes. I use this mascara for I call my “day makeup” (work, running errands, day-to-day activities).
2. It Cosmetics Superhero mascara. For more of a party nighttime look, this mascara is a must have. With just one coat you experience extreme volume and length. However, with more than one coat, you can experience some clumping which does not bother me because again, this makes my smaller eyes appear larger. This mascara has a hefty price tag at $24.00 and can be purchased at Ulta or through the QVC website.
3. Maybelline Lash Discovery mascara. This mascara retails for $7.99 and can be purchased at any drug store. It lengthens and defines lashes with no clumps. For my small eyes, it separates each lash giving them a clean, natural look. I used this mascara on no-makeup makeup days, going to the gym and swimming (waterproof formula) or when I just to look awake.
